Figure Skating at Kurbads Ice Arena

Figure Skating – Elegance, Skill, and Passion on Ice

Figure skating is undoubtedly a beautiful and dazzling sport that captivates audiences worldwide. But it is more than just graceful dancing on ice. Success in figure skating largely depends on the guidance of experienced professionals. Coaches play a crucial role in shaping young talents into exceptional performers. Their deep understanding of the sport, invaluable knowledge, techniques, and strategies provide every skater with the tools to reach their full potential and become true artists on ice.

At Kurbads Ice Arena, figure skating training is led by the outstanding Alma Lepina-Lāce. Alma is a former Latvian figure skater who represented Latvia at the 1992 Winter Olympics in Albertville, finishing 20th. Her best result at an ISU Championship was 13th place at the 1993 European Championships in Helsinki, Finland.

Figure skating captivates through its incredible technical mastery and artistic expression. Skaters glide gracefully across the ice, performing jumps, complex spins, and footwork that sometimes seem to defy the laws of physics.

Achieving excellence on ice requires more than natural talent. Skaters spend countless hours both on the ice and in the gym, developing strength, flexibility, and endurance. The precision and skill needed to perform flawless routines is the result of years of dedicated practice and the guidance of highly experienced coaches.

Figure skating radiates undeniable elegance. Skaters in dazzling costumes, sparkling under the lights, create a symphony of movement and emotion that captivates audiences. Their performances tell stories and evoke feelings.

Through graceful skating and breathtaking jumps, figure skaters remind us of the limitless possibilities achievable with dedication, talent, and relentless pursuit of excellence.
